Hue province builds handicraft goods brand

From now to 2012, Hue province invests about 14.75 billion for restoring and developing craft villages and production of export products. Besides focusing on brand building, creating the market for handicraft goods, the province also focus on promoting the development of production and exports associated with the creation of jobs in rural areas. 1,700 employees and 1,500 production workers in the agricultural exports of rural vocational of the province has been training, increasing job creation and incomes for workers.

Recently, through the selection at 58 units with 176 products in five categories of goods as wood carving, bone carvings, wood products, embroidery, textiles, metal products, bamboo, ... knitting, offering materials from bamboo, paper, food processing, food and traditional pottery, Hue province has chosen 31 product samples taken in the production of souvenirs. Hue province  implements policies to encourage and develop nearly 1,000 establishments producing traditional crafts, attracted over 6,000 employees, including professional wood carving, wood carvings, pearl inlaying, lacquer, embroidery, bronze casting, baskets, carving in conical hats, jewelry, leather footwear, sewing...

The city has mobilized some investment bases researching production of new souvenir forms for tourists. The city has policies which encourages public support for a cooperative project to transfer technology. Many traditional handicrafts such as wood carving, bronze casting, traditional embroidery, mosaic art, pulse sesame candy, Sour Shrimp were improved in quality, available on the market and abroad.

In addition, training activities of the industrial promotion schemes are not only meet the needs of vocational training and jobs for rural workers, but also contribute to provide skilled human resources for the village, production facilities to expand production of traditional handicrafts for local consumption and export. Many other fine art crafts like embroidery, silver carving, bronze casting, pottery and fine art ... being training supported, expanding production, promoting the brand, introducing products to consumers. “The measure of Hue province is now the link between tourism and consumption of traditional crafts. Province plans to restore and develop traditional craft villages such as Phuong Duc village, Thuan Loc embroidery village, Phu Cam conical gazing village and building tours, sightseeing routes linked the traditional villages for tourists to study the cultural approach characteristic of traditional local institutions to better sales of souvenir items and unique products” said Vice President of People's Committee of Hue, Mr Phan Ngoc Tho.

In the future, the province further develop the role of the Hue handicraft, professional Association, Hue University of Fine Arts, developing plans to restore a typical village in an organized demonstration for tourists, visitors can participate in one of the stages of the production process, such as Phuoc Tich pottery, mosaic and embroidery to create the attraction from the traditional handicrafts of Hue...
